About Cheryl Stolz, Ph.D.

I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Saskatchewan (Canada). I moved to the United States in 2002 where I received my Masters degree and my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of North Dakota. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Counseling Center at Colorado State University. I worked as a psychologist at Washington State University for 5 years before moving to Seattle and working for 1.5 years at the University of Washington Bothell. In March 2016 I moved into full-time private practice in Kirkland. I am a licensed psychologist in the State of Washington.
As a psychologist I identify as a generalist and integrationist, utilizing humanistic/existential, psychodynamic, interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral/dialectical behavioral, and multicultural/feminist theories and interventions. I provide an empathic, non-judgmental, validating space in which to do the work you wish to do in order to live your best self.

Areas of Specialty:
I provide culturally-competent therapy, taking into account each of our unique experiences and values.
I have special training and expertise working with LGBTQIA, and specifically transgender/gender nonconforming adolescents and adults. I also have special training and expertise working with individuals who have experienced trauma, whether recently or in the past, including in childhood.
I have considerable experience doing couples therapy and group therapy.
